1st - Comfort: This is the most comfortable pair I've ever owned. Feather light with a nice, soft but firm clamp. I sometimes wear cans for 3 or more hours, and these just disappear. I had the M1070, which sounded amazing but were too heavy for me (sold them). I had the DT1990 but the pads were hard as a rocks, and it never fit me comfortably (sold them).
2nd - Sound: Amazing and impactful. Right out of the box, I was blown away by the clarity, energy and separation. There was that typical planar harshness at first, but that went away after proper burn-in. I had the Focal Clear and was so disappointed, I thought they sounded dull and limp - and heavy (sold them). I also really love the tuning pads. Sometimes I want to tone things down a bit, and sometimes I want to hear everything.
3rd - Soundstage: Amazing! These are comparable to the K712 - seriously. These actually push the vocals sightly more forward then the K712. Plus, the closed backs block out room noise giving a much cleaner presence to the music (I'm still keeping the K712).
4th - Build: Top notch all the way. They are very pleasant to the touch. Because they are so light you think that they are delicate like a feather, but in fact they are quite sturdy. I'm in manufacturing and don't know how these could be built for $900.
Lastly - power: These need some power, but my 2011 Macbook Pro does just fine without an amp, no complaints. The SMSL stack takes them to a whole other level. The SP200 amp pushes the soundstage out just a bit more and adds a ton of energy. But, I don't think the Aeon Noire likes the RebelAmp. The warmth that RebelAmp is known for, turns into graininess. So a super-clean THX amp is my preference.
Overall - Total End Game for me, and worth every penny of $900.

Crystal clear sound with great soundstage and enough bass punch for me. Mids are well defined and treble never sounds harsh. Excellent build and comfort. Very good noise isolation. I also love the design and that it’s all black. Glossy finish makes it a fingerprint magnet. I’m very happy with my purchase.

If it's not the best then is one of the great closed back headphones in the price range ( $600-1500 ) IMO

I am just a collector of headphones. Not a reviewer, So these are my opinion.
For the Built
They are amazing to look at ( Carbon Fiber! ) The solid feel of it and lightweight is also very great! The way sit on my head is very comfortable, but if you are OCD, you may dislike about can't make both side the same adjustment.
There is one thing I dont really like it. It's the glossy finshed of the cups, because they are fingerprint magnets, but I think that's just how DCA Headphones styles.
For the sound
These need AMP to drive them. If You don't have one. You may and should look something else. but when you have power right they sound very good and better then some of the higher price one. I like all range of it low, mid and high. Maybe the pads are not same as Aeon 2 Closed, It works better then Aeon 2 Closed. And I like the Aeon 2 Noire more then Aeon 2 Closed.
IMO. They can also used as monitoring.
But ( sound is objective so if you were thinking to buy, you really should try them )
I do recommended to buy Aeon 2 Noire, if you are looking at $600 - 1500 Closed back headphone.

The Aeon Noire’s after 20 hours of break-in are amazing. I can understand every word in every song for the first time and the bass is full. More clear than my B&W speakers in my house and Mark Levinson system in my Lexus. The bass which is very good out of the box can be turned up even more with the RME ADI-2 FS DAC and high power setting. Nice contrast on songs with a soft vocal and guitar start that leads into a heavy bass line. Love how it folds to half size and travels. Now I know why Amir on Audio Science Review uses these as he reviews gear. (Have to read lots of posts to find the sentence where he discloses what he wears. He also wanted an excellent closed back headphone)

I bought these headphones so I could listen to music at an unreasonably loud volume late at night without bothering my family. The Aeon 2 Noire easily achieves this goal, as most closed-back headphones would, but brings along excellent stock tuning, comfort, design, and distortion-free detail that make it worth the $900 price tag.
My other main headphones are Sennheiser HD560S, Hifiman Sundara, and AKG K371. I drive them all with a Topping D30Pro DAC and A30Pro headphone amp. While the stock tuning of the Aeon 2 Noire is very good, I use Oratory1990's EQ parameters to bring it closer to the Harman target curve, with the most significant change being a boost in sub-bass and smoothing of the mid-bass hump. With all of my headphones equalized similarly (according to Oratory1990's measurements), I would judge the presentation to be most similar to the Sundara. However, the big advantage with the Aeon 2 Noire is the impactful bass delivered at high volumes. The large earpads combined with a closed-back earcup transfer a significant amount of low-end vibration through your head. My favorite experiences has been with tracks such as Coward from the Interstallar OST, and Vogel im Kafig from the Attack on Titan OST, which with these headphones felt closer to the immersion of a good theater setup than I could ever get with my desktop speakers. Most importantly, they are the most comfortable headphones I've worn on my rather large head!
A few notes for DCA to consider:
- There is no mention on the website of the headband being made of genuine leather. I had assumed it would be a synthetic protein, like the earpads. Please make this clear on the website, and it would be nice if you could make a leather-free version available.
- I tested the limits of the drivers using a tone generator and found that the left driver would start making a clicking noise at moderately loud volumes from 30 hz down. The right driver did not have this issue. However, I have not noticed any such distortion while playing actual bass-heavy music, so I won't take points off for it. I just think it is something you should look into during your quality control process.
Overall, I am really happy with the Aeon 2 Noire. I especially recommend it for anyone in the US looking to support a local business. Good job Dan Clark!
