Sue was fantastic with the purchase and after care on my Aeon Noirs. The sound is fantastic, the build quality is great and the customer service was fantastic.

I had an issue with my VIVO cable and two days later I had a new one at my doorstep with a prepaid label to send the original one in.

Very happy overall with my experience. A customer for life!

    Thanks.

  2. Schiit Bundle

Got these with the Bundle last year with the Schiit audio amp/dac, unfortunately these headphones started going out a few months in and since I dont have multiple units or headphones I am not able to figure out where the problem was, as far as I know it was not the cable that I paid extra for, but either the headphones themselves or the unit had a bad usb c connection. Either way I have to assume both started to break down around 2 months in and are now pretty much done just under a year in. I've been using DanClark for about ~12 years now and started with the Mad Dogs. Unfortunate im going to have to buy new equipment soon now that I have no audio.

  3. An excellent headphone that keeps me wanting more

I’m a listener that loves new gear. I’m constantly on the lookout to try new things. This comes at a cost though, I get bored of gear that doesn’t wow me as much as what I am currently using.

The Noires have left me without that issue. It’s my perfect cup of tea. I’ll be shopping online for what could possibly be my next set when a track starts playing and I’m absolutely wowed again. Sure, they aren’t as hard hitting as a Focal or as warm as an Audeze or as open as a Hifiman but the Noires have their own redeeming qualities. They are relaxing to listen to (the comfort shouldn’t be slept on) and due to the (well tuned) closed back design no detail goes unnoticed, even in noisier environments!

  4. Both drivers dead after 3 years

I bought these almost exactly 3 years ago and have enjoyed listening to them through a Schiit Audio DAC and amp, but about 6 months ago the audio became intermittent on one side and then the other, and I've just been advised that both drivers are dead and I need to pay nearly $400 to have them repaired. I own several pairs of audiophile-grade headphones (some that are decades old), and have never had a driver fail on any of them. Unfortunately, I'll be skipping Dan Clark products in the future. They just aren't built to last.

  5. First true Audiophile experience.

After doing a lot of research on the Aeon 2 Noire and being resolute that those cans suite my needs and that I need them in my life, I started the deep journey to find the right amp that will drive them optimally.

I was stunned to see that this bundle was offered and recommended by the manufacturers themselves. So thank you Schiit and DCA for simplifying that part. I ordered the cans, amp and VIVO XLR cable to make sure the audio chain was what the designers intended for the maximum experience.

Shipping was prompt from San Diego all the way to here in East Asia in less than a week after purchase.

Coming from all sorts of PC based audio, including dedicated sound-cards and headphones that I thought were good, this really cleared up the difference between good and excellent, next-level sound.

It is a revelation that keeps me listening and rediscovering music I've been listening to for decades.
Audio separation, clarity, positioning, and speed is what is very evident. Just a bloody pleasure to experience.
The Aeon 2 Noire + Jotunheim 2 True Multibit DAC via USB-C is the cleanest sound I have ever experienced. For music it is god-like. No EQ required where I would normally not go without.

In games it does not work so well though. For that I have a Sound Blaster X4 that runs to the Jotunheim via RCA and that gives games proper environmental processing. The Creative people have been in the PC game sphere for decades and it is very audible.
But for music it is FAR inferior to the True Multibit DAC.

Overall I am extremely happy with these headphones, beast amp and it's DAC to drive them, thank you Dan and Jason for this!

These are by far the best closed headphones I have owned or tried so far. I really hope I can save up to the Stealth one day, as those would be the next step up. Very happy with the Aeon 2 Noire, can't recommend them enough.

  7. Aeon 2 Noire - Portal to the Audio Dimension

Ok so how do the Noire sound?

Deep, oh so deep. Like there is a black hole from which the sonic expanse materializes in from. The bass is rich, resolving, and dynamic. The tops are there all the way into my dogs hearing range, crystal clear such that his ears perk up if he hears “Let’s go!” From any music I’m listening to. The mid tones sound like they are are spread all around me like I’m bathing in them. The overall experience is nothing short of sonic bliss.
Signal Chain: PC-USB-> Schiit Gungnir->Freya+SolidStateTubes->Valhalla2-traditional tubes->Aeon2 Noire. They also sounded amazing through: iFi PRO iDSD, Hugo 2, Astell&Kern CA1000, and finally they also sound good on the iFi iDSD Gryphon. Pretty much, as long as I was able to provide plenty of amplification they provided exemplary sound.
Bravo Dan Clark, can’t wait to save up for a Stealth!

  9. Incredible Sound, Well Worth the Price.

This is not so much a review as it is a thank you to the team at Dan Clark Audio. Like many others I found planar magnet headphones and fell in love. I was taught to play piano by ear when I was 3 years old, and later learnt to play guitar, bass, clarinet, saxophone, mandolin, drums, and a few other instruments… I am extremely sensitive to when guitars and bass guitars specifically sound off. Planar headphones are the only thing that have been able to deliver accurate guitar timbre to me.

I required a closed back because I live in a noisy environment. I thought I’d have to sacrifice the tone and timbre I grew to love in many of my open backs, but DCA came to the rescue with the Noire. Though not the Stealth, for a fraction of the price it’s pretty dang incredible!

Seems to work fine on my portable that has 300mw at 32 ohms. Didn’t love my Apple Dongle. Benefits from a quality dac and amp. At first listen the treble sounded a little too spicy, but I’ve grown to appreciate this quality… because Noire is a closed back, and with that added isolation I’m able to listen at much quieter volumes where that bit of sparkle becomes welcomed. The mids are so close to perfect it’s not even funny… honestly. Guitars sound great. The bass is tasteful and textured. Bass guitars feel full, and accurate. This headphone also took to EQ incredibly well, not that it needs it. One of if not the most open sounding closed backs I’ve heard.

There is very little to complain about with this headphone. Build quality is excellent. My cable did come with a couple scuffs but it’s just a cable… the headphones are absolutely gorgeous. I recommend being careful with the tuning filters and/or to avoid them if possible as the thin nylon like material in the headphone is a tad sensitive to stretching. That all said I feel I could drop these with little issue (don’t), they seem sturdy and extremely well built. The case is also added peace of mind and a way to protect your investment.

I’m truly in love with this headphone and it will be my most used headphone going forward, possibly till I can afford the Stealth one day.

Many people are willing to spend thousands of dollars on a TV to watch sports… there is absolutely nothing wrong with spending this much on a headphone that brings you joy.

Well done with the Noire. Incredible headphone.
